Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is an important focus of the European Union (EU) to promote sustainability. The EU has integrated ESD into its policies to equip people with the knowledge, skills and values they need to protect the planet and advance the Sustainable Development Goals.

Vocational Education and Training (VET) plays a crucial role in ESD by integrating sustainability principles into educational programs aimed at developing the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for sustainable practices of future professionals. By incorporating ESD into VET, individuals are prepared to think and act sustainable in various sectors, including business, industry, and the workforce fostering a culture of environmental responsibility and promoting sustainable practices within organizations.
